Priorities

To study of fungal diversity in Uzbekistan. To Study the biology, ecology, geography of macro- and micromycetes of mycobiota of Uzbekistan, to identify pathogenic fungi that cause diseases on natural and cultivated plants, i.e. technical, medicinal, forage and food plants, and develop measures to protect them. Creation of an electronic database and GIS maps of fungi. Identification of promising species of edible and medicinal mushrooms, rich in biologically active substances, the isolation of pure cultures and the development of methods for growing them in artificial environments. Inventory of the flora of algae in reservoirs , study of the taxonomy, geography, ecology of algae in Uzbekistan, identification of indicator-saprobic algas and their use in assessing the sanitary state of water bodies. To identify rare, promising species of algae and develop measures to preserve them in the collection. Study of the flora of higher water and wetland plants of water bodies of Uzbekistan, lands of water bodies of Uzbekistan. Study of the bioecological characteristics of flood and bog plants imported from local and other regions, and the development of measures for their rational use (in animal husbandry, fishing, medicine and biological wastewater treatment).

Achievements of the laboratory

According to the applied project “A7-FA-0-17178 Study of biodiversity (algae, higher aquatic and wetland plants) of the Aydar-Arnasay system of lakes (eastern part)” in 2012-2014. 431 algological samples were collected from 12 monitoring stations from the water bodies of the Aydaro-Arnasay system of lakes (Lake Arnasay, Lake Tuzkan). As a result, 495 species and intraspecific algae have been found such as: blue-green – 103, yellow-green – 5, Golden – 6, dinophyta – 15, euglenophyta – 21, diatom – 186, and green algae – 159. New species – Botryosphaera schoyakubovii sp.nov. Xalilov. have been discovered from green algae for science. As a result of taxonomic analysis of higher aquatic and wetland plants and chara algae 67 species belonging to 45 genera and 27 families were found. The species found by ecological groups were distributed as follows: hygrophytes 35, hydrophytes 22, hydatophytes 10. As a result of processing herbarium materials, an aquatic plant Aldrovanda vesiculosa L. from the family Droseraceae Salisb, very rare for the flora of Uzbekistan, was discovered.
According to the fundamental project I5-FA-0-80028 “Technology of intensification of the process of biological treatment of various wastewater using higher aquatic plants”, the total number of bacteria of the group of saprophytic microorganisms and bacteria in the treatment facilities of the Angren production department “Suvogova” and JSC “Kokandspirt” was determined. An effective biotechnology has been developed for the purification of wastewater from organo-mineral substances, heavy metals, cyanides, pesticides, petroleum products, as well as pathogenic microorganisms by cultivating higher aquatic plants – Pistia stratiotes L., Eichornia crassipes Solts. And Azolla Caroline (Azolla carolina Willd.). Bodily pistia, excellent eichornia and caroline azolla, grown in wastewater, give a large increase in biomass. This biomass can be used as planting material or after heat treatment on a vitamin flour unit as a protein, vitamin and mineral supplement to the diets of farm animals and poultry.
In 2015-2017 according to the applied project P3-2014-0830174425 “Pathogenic fungi of the dendroflora of southern Uzbekistan and the creation of a distribution map (within the Surkhandarya region)” Pathogenic fungi of the dendroflora of the Baysun region were studied. 95 species of pathogenic fungi belonging to 47 genera, 28 families, 17 orders, 7 classes and 2 divisions were found. New species have been found out of them for science such as: Coniochaeta coluteae M.C. Samarakoon, Yu.Sh. Gafforov & K.D. Hyde, Neocamarosporium salsolae Wanas., Yu. Sh. Gafforov & K.D. Hyde, Staurosphaeria rhamnicola Wanas., Yu. Sh. Gafforov & K.D. Hyde. 1 new species was revealed for the mycobiota of Uzbekistan (Puccinia rhamni Kuprev.). An electronic database of mushrooms has been created in MS Access. For this database, Copyright Certificate No. BGU 00347 was obtained from the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan. And also a recommendation was developed “measures to protect trees and shrubs from fungal diseases in the Baysun district of the Surkhandara region”.
Within the framework of the applied project “PZ-2017-0921183 rust fungi of medicinal plants of the North Turkestan botanical-geographical region and the creation of their distribution maps” in 2018-2020 for the first time on medicinal plants 56 species of rust fungi were found belonging to 8 genera, 5 families from the order Pucciniales, class Pucciniomycetes, department Basidiomycota. Also on the territory of the study area on medicinal plants, in addition to rust, 70 species of pathogenic fungi belonging to 2 divisions, 7 classes, 15 orders, 18 families, 31 genera (27 forms, 1 variation) causing fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria, phyllostikosis were identified. , polystygmosis, etc. In total, 126 species of pathogenic fungi have been identified on medicinal plants in the study area.
As a result of the research, 4 species for science were identified for science: Melanocamarosporioides D. Pem, Gafforov & K.D. Hyde, Melanocamarosporioides ugamica D. Pem, Gafforov & K.D. Hyde, sp. nov., Thyrostroma ephedricola D. Pem, Gafforov, Jeewon & K.D. Hyde, sp. nov., Ophiobolus hydei Gafforov, Phookamsak & Wanas, sp. nov. , as well as 6 species for the mycobiota of Uzbekistan (Phragmidium altaicum YM Liang & Y. Liu, Phoma punctulata Cooke et Rav, Phyllosticta potentillica Sacc., Cylindrosporium thalictri Dmitr., Septoria heraclei Desm. ex Fr., Septoria fraxini Desm.). GIS maps of widespread medicinal plants and dangerous pathogenic fungi were made up.
