The structure of the Institute includes 6 scientific laboratories, Kyzylkum desert station, Tashkent experimental site, “Salvare” company; two Unique scientific objects: “National Herbarium” and the Tashkent Botanical Garden named after acad. F.N. Rusanov.

The collection fund of the Botanical Garden is a base for university, lyceum and schools classes in the relevant botany sections, as well as for the purpose of propagation at youth of the careful attitude to nature (the number of tourists exceeds 22 thousand per year).

The National Herbarium of the Institute of Botany is one of the largest herbarium collection of vascular plants, a worldwide importance national treasure of Uzbekistan. The National Herbarium is a member of the reputable international association the Index Herbariorum New York Botanical Garden. It is second in Asia (under the Beijing Herbarium) by total volume, and it is the first by Central Asian specimens in the world. The earliest samples are dated by 1840. The mass collections in the Uzbekistan territory date back to 1905. The Central Herbarium collection is a basis for modern research of flora, taxonomy, phytogeography and florogenetics of Central Asia, as well as adjacent territories. The most valuable scientific source of botanical science. Herbarium materials are used by all biological research institutes of the Academy of Sciences, universities, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, plant taxonomy specialists from different countries.

Molecular phylogeny and biogeography laboratory, National Herbarium are well equipped. The institute administration staff, all laboratories are provided by modern office machines and equipment, included 63 computers, 10 laptops, 4 copiers and scanners, and printers 3/1 59 pieces.
